Why use Cellulosic Electrodes instead of Rutile for pipelines? +
Cellulosic electrodes (like E6010) provide much deeper penetration and a more forceful arc. They are designed for vertical-down welding, which is significantly faster than the vertical-up method required by rutile or basic electrodes. This "Information Gain" in productivity is the primary reason for their dominance in the pipeline industry.
How should Cellulosic Electrodes be stored? +
Unlike low-hydrogen electrodes (E7018) which must be kept bone-dry, cellulosic electrodes require a specific amount of moisture (approx. 3-7%) in their coating to function correctly. If they become too dry, the arc becomes harsh and unstable. Tianqiao provides specialized hermetically sealed packaging to maintain this optimal moisture level.
Can E6010 be used on AC current? +
Standard E6010 is designed for DCEP (Direct Current Electrode Positive). For AC applications, E6011 is the recommended cellulosic alternative, featuring specialized stabilizers in the flux to maintain the arc during the zero-crossing of the AC cycle.
